Complaint Counselor Internships for Spanish Speakers

Internships in the legal department are available with the American Civil Liberties Union of Washington. Volunteer or earn credit. Six month commitment is required, with a minimum of 12 hours each week.

Interns primarily review and investigate written complaints alleging violations of civil liberties and assist callers on the Complaint and Referral Line. They work closely with legal department staff and handle complaints covering a broad spectrum of civil liberties and constitutional law issues.

Educational benefits include the development of interview skills and the ability to conduct factual investigations, greater familiarity with community resources available for resolving legal disputes and a better understanding of how civil liberties principles affect our day-to-day lives.

How to Respond:

Applicants should have an interest in civil liberties, good interpersonal and analytical skills, and the ability to write in a clear and concise manner. Spanish language proficiency is required. To apply, please submit a cover letter, résumé, and writing sample of approximately five pages in length to:

ACLU of Washington
705 Second Avenue, Suite 300
Seattle, WA, 98104

All applicants are encouraged, including people of color, LGBT, and those with disabilities. Qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview. Feel free to contact us with any questions via our contact form.
