Abortion

The Supreme Court of the United States overturning Roe v. Wade has had a devastating impact on the lives of millions of people – falling most quickly and heavily on marginalized people: people of color, those trying to make ends meet, young people, and undocumented immigrants. Here in Washingtonthe right to an abortion is protected by state law. We are fighting to protect liberty, autonomy, and the right to personal decisions. And we are working together with allies and activists across the state to assure that everyone who chooses to get abortion care can access it.

The ACLU of Washington is calling on San Juan County Public Hospital District No. 1  to comply with Washington’s Reproductive Privacy (RPA) Act and enable women to obtain vital reproductive healthcare services.  The ACLU has written to the District asking it to change its policies and practices to fulfill its obligations under state law.
