Saturday, June 3, 2017 - 10:00am to 1:00pm
Location:

The ACLU of WA will be joining many other organizations in this workshop on supporting local immigrants and refugees. Come gain the tools and information on fighting back against the current anti-immigrant discourse and becoming allies to our immigrant communities.

From Muslim bans to denying federal funds to Sanctuary cities to hate speech and hate crimes increasing across the country, the anti-immigrant discourse that the Trump Administration spews is hurting our communities. This workshop designed to provide specifics on how to help our immigrant and refugee neighbors.

From the event website:

“This two-part workshop will: 1) provide a basic foundation for the current state of affairs for immigrants in the United States today, broken into four key areas, and 2) provide opportunities for community members and activists to learn about various organizations that are already mobilized to serve our immigrant neighbors within these four key areas (listed below).

Path 1:  Current Legislative Framework

Path 2:  Encountering Law Enforcement

Path 3:  Responding to Prejudice

Path 4:  Meeting Basic Needs “
