The ACLU of Washington is suing United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on behalf of a decorated active-duty U.S. Army service member stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord for unreasonably delaying his naturalization application.

The Washington Supreme Court has outlawed the state’s death penalty. In its decision in State v. Gregory, the court found that the death penalty violates the constitution because it is arbitrary and discriminatory, especially with regard to race.

On Wednesday, September 19th, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decided it would hear a case to decide whether the government may deport children who appear in court without a lawyer.
