The ACLU of Washington applauds the unanimous decision of the Yakima City Council on April 5, 2016 to drop its appeal of the landmark voting rights case, Montes v. City of Yakima. The Court's decision ensures that all Yakima residents have a say in their government.  The Council's decision will now enable the City to move forward with the important work of building a better future for all the people of Yakima.

We look forward to working with other cities with similar election districting issues to achieve the same result for their communities.
