Let Kids Be Kids: A New Approach to Youth Safety and Success

Date:
Tuesday, September 12, 2023 - 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Location:
Federal Way Performing Arts & Event Center

Join the ACLU of Washington for a conversation about reimagining the future of accountability for youth. For decades, Washington has invested in increasingly harsher punishments as the solution to public safety, even going as far as charging children as young as eight years old. Attendees will leave feeling challenged about what we’ve all accepted as Washington’s youth “accountability system” and expose how more harm than good comes out of youth incarceration.

Panelists include:

  • Dominique Davis, Community Passageways
  • David Heppard, Freedom Project
  • Larry Jefferson, Washington Office of Public Defense
Moderated by ACLU of Washington Executive Director Michele Storms.

This event is free but requires registration. Doors open at 5:30pm and light refreshments (non-alcoholic beverages and snacks) will be provided. Free parking is available in the venue parking lot and the Federal Way Transit Center is located one block away. More detailed transportation information will be provided closer to the event date.
