Suspending and expelling students doesn’t work, and evidence-based alternatives can keep students in school and learning while promoting positive and safe school learning environments. If you are going to help reduce suspensions, expulsions, and arrests in your school district and to make sure that discipline policies are equitable, you should make sure to investigate other strategies that your school district could adopt, and learn from districts that have made positive changes.
